Many people, when they think of agriculture, probably believe that it is all about boring processes and that farmers use basic technology to complete their work. I am here to tell you that is not the case, and the amount of technology used in agriculture continues to rise. Today I wanted to show what kind of technology is being used and how intricate farming can be.

Drones:

One piece of technology that is very intriguing is the use of drones. The primary purpose of such technology is to constantly monitor farm fields so the farmer is able to identify problems before it affects their yield. They can monitor things such as plant health, soil condition, temperature, humidity, and much more. Remote sensors attached to the drone enable algorithms and can collect analytical data that farmers are able to interpret and make decisions based off that data.

Precision Agriculture:

Since agriculture is going through a technological revolution, one of the concepts that is fairly new is precision agriculture. In the industry there are certain precision agriculture companies that are developing technology to maximize production of a farm. Farmers are able to see things such as weather data, soil data, pest stress, high level images, moisture levels and much more. All of these things are used to make sure their crops are in ideal conditions and they will maximize their yield. This is all done through technological programs which benefit farmers greatly.

Blockchain:

Blockchain technology enables you to track ownership records of your products which helps with issues such as food fraud and traceability. It also enables farmers to connect with potential buyers not just on a local scale, but nationally, and globally as well. Blockchain can also aid with storing data, inventory, and contacts. Blockchain companies are becoming more popular for the reasons I've listed prior.

Automated Farming:

Automated Farming, also known as "smart farming", is technology that makes your farm more efficient while using automated technology. The use of robotics in farming is something that is on the rise and is changing agriculture. As a farmer, the use of this technology allows you to complete boring tasks without actually having to operate machinery yourself. An example of this would be an automated tractor used to harvest or plant crops. This technology can also help with watering crops and getting rid of weeds and pests. The sky is the limit when it comes to this technology and I am interested to see where it can go from here.
